How Many Readers have I got? comic poem 410 by Angela Lansbury

How many readers have I got?

Less than fifty, that's not a lot

Oops, oh no, less should be fewer

I'm a re-reader, re-doer

Charlotte Bronte wrote just four books

She wan't known for her good looks

I've written more, how well I've done!

Though my best book counts buyers - none

Was it the book price or the size?

Was I too shy to publicize?

But I won't worry, nor be perplexed

When one book's done - on to the next!

Anne Frank's hidden diary, later unfurled

Now one of the best-sellers in the world

If you read this, what must I do?

Be proud of one reader, thank you.

Why I'm As Busy As A Bee - Nonsense Verse By Angela Lansbury

I'm always busy as a bee
No-one is busier than me
I'm always busy as you see
I'm always busy as a bee

You may ask, 'Why
Are you so busy?'
Because it stops my hair going frizzy
That's why I'm busy as a bee
No-one is busier than me.

You may say,
'But your hair's not frizzy!'
'That's true,' I say
'Because I'm busy.'

I guarantee it works for me
So I stay busy as a bee.

If you stay busy
You can't worry
So never do things
In a hurry

If you are doing abc
Make yourself busy with a bee
And then with c and then with d
And then with e, then back to be.

To be or not two bees, yes, please
Always be busy with two bees
But if you cannot find two bees
Then just be busy as a bee.

Harry Limerick

💘
Harry was hoping to marry💘👫
A happy girl from Barry😀
But she strung him along
By singing a song
It was more worry than he could carry.

Landlord's Lament

Landlord's Lament
by Angela Lansbury

I should call myself landlady
Yes, but that's my smallest worry
Because I've got bigger problems
I must write this quickly, hurry

You'd think that it would be easy
Just sit back and count the money
Yet today I feel quite queasy
Flats smell of smoke, drugs, fire, curry

If it isn't fire its water
Leaking down from the flats above
Can't decorate, wait -  one more leak
On the soft carpets which I love

Look - the leaking gutters spread mould
Which has ruined the walls and floors
Pay plumbers quick, I'm feeling old
Wish the problems weren't mine but yours

Why do firms make an admin charge
It's the money, and time, and stress
Now I see the cost in time's large
We're sorting out the constant mess

I bought an expensive oven
Tenants roasted, set on the grill
The fire brigade has just left them
Oven destroyed - who'll pay the bill?
