Matching comical poem 516 by Angela Lansbury

Match, match, I love to match

A jacket and top, a top and skirt

A coat and hat, If it doesn't match

I feel quite hurt

Now some like to have variety

Even if it means notoriety

The world's a big place

So they are free

But matching is the way for me

You match shoes, gloves, socks

And shells, rings and rocks

A 3 piece suite, even two clocks

The carpet here and there

A set of dining chairs

A bag, belt and hat

How smart is that!

The French will match

Plain colours, neat

Simple elegance

Head to feet

The style I hate

Which makes me late

Is trying to match up

Separates

A trouser suit

And a pair of boots

I know some folk don't

Care two hoots

In England we like pairs

Evens, dozens

Things are different with

Our Japanese cousins

Where my tea cups are four or six

But the Japanese have sets of five

Our ways of thinking do not mix

Do differences help you survive?

I like outfits' fabrics to look the same

Match labels, a perennial game

Perhaps the hardest but best match

Is the middle of hatch, match and despatch.

Left and Right Shoes - Choose comic poem 461 by Angela Lansbury

Now left or right

Which do you choose

First from the box

Two neutral socks

Then on the floor

Far from the door

I found my shoes

But got the blues

Two red sandals

They looked a match

Alas there was

An awrful catch

I found I did

Not have a pair

But two left shoes

I could not wear

That was something

Which did annoy

I looked again

And, oh, what joy!

Another pair of

Two right shoes

It dis not take

Me long to choose

I'm now wearing

One matchd pair

No longer fear

Of others' stare

I must have bought

Two pairs in red

They found their freinds

Beside my bed

One moment's stress

I'm in a mess

A small effort

Joy of successs!

After I'd had

A little think

I matched them up

With each strap link

I'm very proud

Of what I've done

And hope that you

Enjoyed the fun.

Your Box of Odd Socks (Comic poem 137)

You're not alone in having odd socks

I, too, have a box of odd socks

I feel so sorry, they look so forlorn

I'm sure they were twins when they were born

But now I am wondering what to do

I've found a few which are nearly new

I know that I'll find the other, one day

After I throw this one away

Sometimes you've thrown the worn sock away

But kept the one which has seen better days

Sometimes one's under the washing machine

Or found inside shoes which needed a clean

There should be a swap box for odd sox online

So you could match your odd socks with mine

You've kept my odd sock from two years ago

Found under your sofa - now we know!

Alas some odd socks have lost their elastic

Some are stained, although made from plastic

Some are shapeless, covered in balls

I can clean them with tape, then they'll wipe down the walls.

Regarding odd socks, one joy I must share

Those who worry like me, those who really care

There's no greater delight, by day or by night

Than sorting odd socks and finding a pair.

I have good reason to not throw away

November 18th will be odd socks day.
