When You're Feeling Dizzy comical poem 705 by Angela Lansbury

When I lie down or stand up quickly

No fever but I feel I'm sickly

Everything swings round and round

The ceiling swaps space with the ground

I feel like a roller coaster

On a swinging, falling poster

Like a ship goes up and down -

While waves create a scary sound

A ringing, zinging, high pitch whine

I do not hear it all the time

Only when all else is quiet

Is it lack of sleep or diet?

I'll be glad when the cause is found

Cure - physio, or pills sent round

My doctor says the inner ear

Controls both, so a cure is near.

My friend says just rotate both feet

So messages to brain will meet

Though feet and brain seem far apart

Signs travel through the lungs and heart

The world is known by eyes and ears

Right from your very early years

Earth at your feet, eye level's here

No need to think about it, dear

It's like a distant radio

Take no notice, no need to know

Your body talks, it gets work done

'til one thing fails, then that's no fun

Feet send a signal which is clear

My head's on top, my feet down here.

Or both my feet and head in bed

Stop jumping when I rest my head

Head, hear blood, don't drive me mental

Head on pillow, I'm horizontal

I'm not standing, no longer vertical

Listen, brain cells, nerves told you all

So I'll go off to A and E

I'm glad the NHS is 'free'

Paid by our taxes in advance

So when we need health, we can glance

From your toenails up to your hair

Just fill in a long questionnaire

Doctors and nurses hurry by

Leave me to trust helpful AI.

Like saving for a rainy day

AI need not get in your way

It's like your money in the banks

Helps when needed and needs no thanks.

Tinnitus and dizziness both caused by the ear, related problems, my doctor said.

Ava's Dolls' House comical poem 560 by Angela Lansbury

  Ava had a little dolly

And the dolly's name was Molly

Molly had a taller sister

And her sister's name was Elsa

The sisters lived in a big house

Which had a dog, a cat, and mouse

It had a garden, pots with flowers

A clock and sundial counted hours

Outside was small blue car

If dolly wanted to go far

And a train in the train station

And police in the police station

In the hallway was a rug

Where Molly met you with a hug

In the hallway by the window

Was a long inviting settee

When you had nowhere to go

Shut your eyes, dream of the sea - or tea

In the kitchen the best honey

Which had cost a lot of money

In the kitchen was a cook

With an apron, bowl, and book

Upstairs was an attic bed

A pillow where you put your head

And a box with lots of toys

But the toys made no noise

And a wardrobe with a mirror

Where dollies could dress for dinner

And some pictures on the wall

With blue gum to fix them all

On the roof a helipad

Where you could land a little plane

Some of the roof was sloping

Made a runaway for the rain

The roof had statues of a dog

A Noah's ark, tortoise and frog

A cow, a horse, even a bear

A monster with a lot of hair

On the roof the cat with claws

Sat beside the Santa Claus

He hid on the roof all year

Waiting to deliver Chistmas cheer

Yes, dolly did have a brother

And a father, and a mother

Dolly-sitter Ava came to stay

When dollies' Dad went on holiday.

But the dolly girls went to school

And the school had lots of rules

About the times when you could play

The long weekends, and holidays.

At bedtime with a sigh

Dolly had to say goodbye

But Dolly was here to stay

Ready to play another day

So Ava shut the door, the house

Put in the cat, put out the mouse

She said, 'dear dollies, please sleep tight

I wish you, both, a very good night'.

What Shall I Wear? Dreamy Dress, Dreamy Hair comic poem number 464 by Angela Lansbury

 What's shall I wear?

I'll comb my hair

I'll ask my spouse

They do not care

I'll wear a hat

Look good in that

Take off my glasses

No blind as a bat

Fake fur like a cat

Ask strangers, chat

Do I look fat?

They do not want to answer that

I'll have to diet

On the quiet

What do I weigh

I dare not say

Surprising what

Mirrors don't show

What only I

And my unerwear know

What am I saving this silk dress for

Who can remember what I wore

They can't even be sure

If we've ever met before

What Shall I wear

I'll wsh my hair

Dress for an imaginary

Milionaire - or billionaire

Sometimes you are dressed up in dreams

But the world's not what it seems

Your clothes are splitting at the seams

And the president is wearing jeans

In dreams I am dressed like a queen

My clothes are not vintage has-been

My wardrobe's like theaatre scenes

Each dress has pockets full of dreams.

Who Am I And Who Are You? comic poem number 377 by Angela Lansbury

Big Hotel Bedroom, Campanile Hotel, Montpellier, France.

Where am I? In a hotel!

I thought I knew this pillow well

Which city, region? I can't tell

I'm in heaven, or five star hell.

I woke up puzzled in the dawn

Faced my first question of the morn

The questions is, am I still me?

Am I the person I'd like to be?

Angela Lansbury in the mirror. Photo by Trevor Sharot. Copyright.

I see my mirror then my face

I look round the familiar place

Yes, everything's where it sould be

I'm glad to see that I'm still me

My soul's not swapped and gone away

I'll stay me all night and day

I'm satisfied with all I see

It's reasssuring I'm still me

I haven't changed my height or hair

Though I can change the clothes I wear

In dreams my mind had wandered free

Now in daylight it's back with me

I'm older than I'd like to be

And shorter than I'd like to be

Not as thin as I'd like to be

Yet, on the whole, I like being me

I'm not in some house down the road

I haven't turned into a toad

And though my troubles are a load

My books show me how much I knowed

And I am glad you're still the same

Although sometimes we forget names

I hope you won't hold me to blame

But you'll be pleased to see I'm me

I've got my marbles, got my brain

Yes, everything still looks the same

No Alzheimer's, no claims of fame

I'm not Napoleon, I'm me

I may not answer very fast

But all mistakes are in the past

Forgive and start again, at last

I'm sure you're glad with what you see

I'm sure you're glad that I'm still me

And almost all I used to be

And you are you, we're stuck like glue

Don't set me free, I'm glad we're we

We are we, and parents, too

When adding up, I'll think of you

And analyse statistically

Count a child, that makes us three..

So all in all, no more to do

Although the night is now a blur

The surroundings are what they were

Let's sleep, or act, not just infer.

As antidote to tragedy

I add a dose of comedy

To sum it up, as you can see

I'm happy to wake up as me.

Now here's a phase which you can say

To keep you happy all the day

I'm happy to wake up as me

I'm very happy to be me!

-ends-

My original version ended I'm vry happy to be me. The first version was a cheery and plebeian affirmation. I have changed that to, I'm happy to wake up as me. It's more orignal. However, if you think the earlier version is easier to say, and a more relevant affirmation to everybody's day, for me and you to keep thinking and repeating to ourselves. Why not add both as a couplet, like a Shakespearean sonnet.
