Reflections On Reflections comic poem 172

I look at myself in the mirror

What do I think of that?

I think I am thin and beautiful

Why does the mirror say that I'm fat?

Reflections in the pool, Singapore. Photo by Angela Lansbury. Copyright. March 2023.

I exercise while the day's still cool

I swim to get slimmer

I look at reflections in the pool

Kind tall trees wave, and weave and glimmer

I'm reflecting on the reflections

It's something new to do

Never mind, forget introspection

It's a lovely world for me and you

Why does the water reflect blue sky?

I read but I forget

Keep reading, one day I'll remember

Sadly. I haven't remembered yet

Someone stops to talk, reflects my mood

He's a cheerful neighbour

I reflect all interaction's good

Despite mad chats and weird behaviour

I reflect the time for swimming's past

I've stopped swimming, just float

I reflect I'm ready for my breakfast

Solid, secure, thoughtless, like a boat.

When I was a Child. Comic poem 143.

When I was a child

A toilet was a potty

and the world was full of people

who my mother said were dotty

When I was a child

back in the day

You never looked back

beyond yesterday

When I was a child

I didn't have cares

I was not afraid of bears

And I didn't buy shares

I was only afraid of

Things inside my head

Shadows on the stairs

Spiders hide under the bed

When I was a child

You could walk in the wild

And a day was full of hours

And you could pick wild flowers

When I see a laughing baby

I wonder, maybe

One day, in quite a while

You'll remember now and smile.

Who can I blame?

😓

When things go wrong

Who can I blame?

It's no good blaming

What's-his-name?

😕

'cos what-is-name

Has gone away

He won't be back

For many a day

😲

It isn't fair

It isn't right

It's no good saying

It'll be all right

😫

It's no good blaming

God or Fate

For the next round

You just have to wait

😦

It's not your turn

Your day will come

It's come and gone

Pull the other one

😳

I don't have fortune

I didn't gain fame

And nobody

Remembers my name

😠

And if they do

Much good it makes

Maybe I've not got

What it takes

Well, don't blame me

It's not my fault

I've only done

What I've been taught

🙍

I'm not the sort

To always complain

So I won't say

That you're to blame.

🙊

I do not want

To cause a riot

I'll say nothing

Just keep quiet.

😴

From Young To Old by Angela Lansbury

You run so fast from young to old
You run so fast from hot to cold
You run so fast from cold to hot
From yes I can to I cannot

Fast learn the skill of one who can
Watch folks fast change from woman to man
If you keep busy every day
How fast your life will pass away

You run so fast from cold to hot
From I remember to I forgot
You run so fast from rival to friend
You run so fast from start to end

You run so fast from hot to cold
You run so fast from young to old.
