Dreams Of Colourful Scenes, Blue And Green comical poem number 572 by Angela Lansbury

Last night I had a vivid dream

I dreamed of a patch of bright blue

I hope you're excited like me

Though you'd prefer I'd dreamed of you

Then I saw trees, a moving scene

A road through trees, moving, great green

I wanted a destination

But saw, repeating, that tree scene

Why would my dreams be colours?

Why would I dream of green and blue?

Good, I didn't dream of others

Of dream lovers, instead of you

I search for a simple answer

What goes in minds, and what stays in?

I think my brain sorts out at night

What to throw out, stay in or bin!

I scan lots of WhatsApp pictures

Other people's walks and flowers

I admire the lovely colours

Images stay fixed for hours

 ***

Like ads and cards from yesterday

Record, in case, then throw it in

I must glance, memorize each one

Then tough, rough, throw all in the bin

I do not need to dream of you

For you are sleeping near

I do not need to dream of you

Because I have you, really here

After night I forget most dreams

For they are not rationality

You are not just a dream, my dear

You are daytime reality

Next day, breakfast, a glass of water

No dream, waking, see a real face

Telling mad dreams, hearing laughter

No need to record a real place

Real's not just sight, made, thrown, at night

Fleeting fun thoughts to share with you

Of lovely coloured dreams, now gone

My joy at dreaming green, and blue.

Author's note.

I originally entitled my poems comic poems. But, strictly speaking, a comic is a person, a noun, whilst comical is an adjective. So I have changed my titles on my blog posts.

First Rose comical poem 567 by Angela Lansbury

Pink rose in May 2025. Photo by Angela Lansbury.

Guess what joy in my garden grows

In May, yet a first summer rose

When others buds will wait til June

One rose thinks that May's not too soon

This big rose, framed in green, bright pink

It's seen the sun, and had a drink

It's bold, attracts me like a wink

It makes me stop and look and think

Nearby I see small, lower weeds

Struggling up boldly, from wild seeds

Proclaim the gard'ner's lack of deeds

Dandelion soup, when in dire needs

My eye returns to that sole rose

Which grows where almost no-one goes

The back garden, where a fox shows

Slugs stop me wearing open toes

April's cut roses wilt in vases

Whilst outside a real rose is born

A rose whose sent attracts my nose

But look, don't touch, for it has thorns

Today there could be sun or rain

Proudly proclaim, 'Summer, again!'

I'll smile all day, the whole world knows

What I saw first, that first, pink rose.

Colours Collected So Cute comic poem 384 by Angela Lansbury

Purple and Ginger

Colours, colours, what shall I wear?

Glam purple dress - to match my hair

Ginger - fox with mange sheds red hair

I have mixed thoughts I'd like to share

Brown

Brown is the colour of good earth

Tarnished copper coins of low worth

Something someone left in toilets

Recall tastes of fine chocolates

(Work in progress saved for security. More verses being added in sequence.)

Red

Bright red, blood red, ripe strawberries!

Red means good luck to the Chinese!

Red's revealed in blood orange knife

Red means death - but also means life

Orange

Dark marmalade, juicy orange

Mandarins, for Chinese New Year

Cut and make a mess everywhere

Paper towel - wish you were here

Yellow

Yellow as sun when day's begun

Yellow as sunflower, Van Gogh

Yellow butter makes you fatter

Cheese, too, today doesn't matter

Green

Green as grass and joyful spring leaves

Green as shading leaves on summer trees

Green mint tea, and healthy green tea

St Patrick's, buy rounds - hats are free!

Blue

Pale powder blue, dark navy blue

Turquoise, calm blue but growth of green

Blue as the sea, blue as the sky

I've learned why but still wonder why

Black

Jet black hair, evening wear

Little black dress, black as night

Black for mourning in the morning

Not for weddings, please get that right

Grey

Pale grey hair not bad as you think

Goes with pale blue, and with pale pink

Charcoal grey goes with all colours

Better with some than the others

Pink

Red army uniforms fade pink

Pink was for boys they used to think

Nowadays a young pink princess

Likes to wear a pretty pink dress

Indigo

Indigo, oh, no, I don't know

What colour is called indigo?

Don't buy 'khaki' nor 'indigo'

I learn, and then forget, you know

Rainbow

Rainbows arch high up in the sky

Myths and science will tell you why

Mixed up rainbows are political

Flowers and rainbows - free for all

Gold

White gold, rose gold, every gold

Price high to buy but low when sold

Does not tarnish, wear when swimming

Reward myself for my slimming

Silver

Silver turns black! What should I do?

Rub the ring, it looks good as new

A silver-plated picture frame

Wafer thin! Lacquered, looks the same

White

Wonderful white, bright as daylight

Catching a gleam  like hospital clean

Ending the stumbling in shadowy night

Fridges with food, inviting sight

Yogurt and milk and things of that ilk

Wedding dresses from parachute silk

White carpet shows foodprints which make me cross

Lace tablecloth with holes are no loss.

Today Is A Day

Today is a grey day
A nothing to say day
The day, or I, should go away
No sun, no fun, no play, no way

So I shut my eyes and dream of honey
Dream even harder and dream of money
I'd be satisfied if it were sunny
Or lots of pals were smiling and funny

I smile at the mirror and see my smile
Maybe life'll change in a little while
The chairs are green as stain-free grass
Lamps beam sunlight which lasts and lasts.

Poem Praising Buns

Now, with the lid off, we can see clearer. What shall I choose, the ones with the sesame topping, or the green ones?

Singaporeans like green. They think it suggests fresh green plants or fruit.

Looking at the picture, savouring it, is like eating twice.
Three green buns. Sounds like the nursery rhyme, Three Blind Mice.

The Story Of Six green Buns
Six green buns
Six green buns
We're all so happy when breaktime comes
Six big buns.

The order of eating is all rehearsed
We let the visitors go first
We want them all to share the fun
Five green buns.

I'm watching the numbers carefully
To be sure there's one left for me
Four green buns.

I think I ought to hand them round
I need some food so I survive
We all need food to stay alive
Three green buns

Good, someone says, Already had
I smile because I'm very glad
If they'd all gone I would be mad
Three green buns.

Three big buns.
Three big buns.
The green one is my favourite one
I ate the green one, now it's gone
Two big buns

One of them has sesame seeds
It looks delicious, it was indeed
One big bun.

No-one saw that I took too
But I must leave one for you
Hurry, friend you must be fast
Or otherwise I'll take the last ...

With two of us - I have to share
I'll share with you to show I care
No big buns.
No big buns.

But we have shared our memory
What we ate for last weekend's tea
Green been paste, kaya, (and) sesame
Three big buns.

I'm looking forward to next weekend
Three dollars isn't a lot to spend
In Singapore eating never ends
I dream about them every day - six green buns.
