Could God Make A Mistake? comical poem 721 by Angela Lansbury

All things are bright and beautiful

That hymn was written long ago

What if I wrote it nowadays

With all the science we now know?

Even if you are religious,

If you search, I'm sure you will find

Devout and decent people pray

To make God change his, or her, mind

Take cities of millions of men,

Study their acts, a million years

If you give all of them free will

Most give love and laughter, but some spread tears

Just like modern electric cars

Have accelerators and brakes

Gardens have cats, rats, dogs, frogs, foxes, snakes,

Could one of them be a mistake?

Cat waiting, asking for milk and mice. Hillview Road. Photo by Angela Lansbury. Copyright.

We all see all from our point of view

The sun, the stars and universe

The summer, winter, breezes, and storms

The births, loves, weddings, deaths and hearse

Your voice has choice, prose, poetry,

We all choose for better and worse

Sing hymns of praise, or say swear words,

Pay compliments, pay bills and curse

Last night I dreamt, as dreamers do,

Not nightmares, daydreams, just like you

I met a dream friend of a friend,

I turned up late, but, at the end

I saw her flat up in the sky,

She lived so high, I wondered why

Far above green trees, below deep blue seas,

Through white nets, new, a terrace, a dizzy view

I woke and thought, is life like dreams,

Just random events? Or real schemes?

I must not sit and pray all day,

But read life's cook books.  First work. Then play

Although the world's full of mad mistakes,

When a fine vase breaks, in the end, scheme

You can make fate bend, take gold to mend,

And make each day fulfil one dream.

Kin-tsugi repair is a Japanese system of painting gold over the random cracks when you glue together a broken vase or bowl or plate. The Japanese mix the gold with the glue. I glued first, then painted the gold on top with a gold marker pen. Kin means gold. Tsugi is mend or journey.

I won a speech contest about the environment, using a broken porcelain lamp base, shaped like a vase, which after it broke I had mended with gold, Japanese style, making it look better than when it had been just plain dark green.

Another Nonsense Song, comical 607 by Angela Lansbury

Angela Lansbury and Big Max at BCB bar and beverage show in London. Photo by Angela Lansbury.

 What can I write about

The tension or moan or shout

Why I wear my hats piled high

Why skyscrapers touch the sky

Why don't all cockroaches die

Is a half truth half a lie?

Why don't we have green sky?

First chicken pie then apple pie

Nonesense is gone sense

The French must have bon sense

Con men make con sense

The Chinese have wan sense

Nonesense is trivial fun

Nonsense is convivial fun

The sauce on life's serious bun

Jelly bullets in a joke gun

When ou have dropped a vital file

The tenion in a toppling pile

A raised eyebrow, a twisted smle

Like sugar lumps from Taate & Lyle

When you cn't decide what to wear

It leads you left and everywhere

A way to halve and share your cares

Investing in profitable shares

Nonesen, nonsense, is easy to write

You can do it in the middle of the night

No matter if it makes no snese in morning's light

A nonsense poem is always right.

Dreaming Of A Childhood Garden

White house rose garden.

Last night I dreamed my life again Night dreams should sort and right day's wrong Your hopes and wishes, fogs and fears Muddled bad cleared, like a good song I wiped the haze and rainy daze Dreamt of flowers, back in London Like my childhood, sunlit, unfazed Walking in an English garden Curtains let in light to wake you Green grass, green oaks, and a blue sky Cool dew, long paths lead to new views Red rose bushes grow up eye high Yesterday I saw butterflies Changi airport, an oasis You think you're reborn, no-one dies Papers reveal Zika's crises Far from leaves and far from green grass Our plane jolts down in neon Hong Kong Skyscrapers soothe changing colours Air-conditioned, what could go wrong? Too many crowds, too much litter Live fish in tanks, dead on our plate There no fresh fruit, too much sugar We've flown, we're tired, it's getting late That's why I dreamed my life again Night dreams should sort out right from wrong Like rose scents which last one hour I'm a curled and coloured flower I wake refreshed to start my day I'm small but see friends in a while So all past cares have flown away I'm small but lift lives with my smile.
