A Happy Bird Is Singing comical poem 605 by Angela Lansbury

Happy bird singing. Photo by Angela Lansbury of her own drawing, by pen name  'Angella'. Copyright.

A happy bird is singing now

But it's not singing to itself

It's boasting to a pretty bird

I've got great wealth. I''m in good health

Join me in this perfect garden

Apples and food for a lifetime

Plenty to share without a care

But caution, darling, is no crime

Last week I spied a prowling cat

At once I flew high in the sky

If you hear my warning warble

Fly straight off - don't stop to ask why

Even the prettiest garden

On some days attracts a black cat

But today the sun is shining

So let's say no more about that

***

When I hear a bird singing

This sign reminds me what to do

To spread a little happiness

And share my newest tune with you.
