Chuck Berry died March 19 2017 and we watched his videos on YouTube and felt happy. I wrote this poem in tribute. (Not nearly as good as the words of his song Nadine.)
I just read online
A music legend has died
Fame goes in and out
Rides the rhythm like a tide
I watch an old video
How I wish that I'd been there!
But they're saved for ever
When you care to share
I hear them singing
I sit and tap my feet
I hear every word
Still feel the heat of that beat
I wish I could write
A song so clear
With words which grab you
Every passing year
Which paint a picture
Of a lover, or two
People so different
Yet like me and you
A girl who is running
So he feels desire
But if she stopped running
Would he lose his fire?
He's young and happy
He's clear and loud
Controls the stage and room
Himself and the crowd
I should feel sad
That the legend has gone
But I'm glad to re-find him
'cause his music lives on.

See Chuck Berry singing Nadine.
I wish I could write words like that.
